Is a hair transplant cheaper in another city?

Sometimes. Our estimates for tier-2 cities are lower than for the big metros, and Mumbai is higher again. The gap is real, but travel eats into it. Here are the numbers.

Kolkata and Ahmedabad are large cities, but we price them in the tier-2 band, because that is where the prices we found for them sit.
Where the saving can be real
The clearest cases are short trips. Navi Mumbai is in our metro band and neighbouring Panvel is in the tier-2 band. From Mumbai, Pune is in the general metro band, below our Mumbai estimate.
Longer trips are harder to justify. Once you add travel and nights away, a lower estimate can disappear.
What travel adds
- Travel both ways, and again for any check-up you need to attend in person.
- A stay. Plan to stay at least until the day after surgery, and ideally until the first wash.
- Time off work. The NHS says you may need 1 to 2 weeks off, wherever you have the surgery.
- Follow-up. Growth takes a year or more, and questions come up along the way. Ask how the clinic will see you if something worries you after you get home.
Questions to ask before you travel
- Does the quote include GST, medicines and the first wash?
- Will the doctor who plans the surgery do the key steps on the day?
- Which follow-ups can be done by video, and which need a visit?
- Who do I contact if there is a problem after I go home?
When going elsewhere makes sense
Start with quotes from your own city and compare them with the estimate on your city's page. If a doctor-led clinic in another city is clearly cheaper after travel and stay, and you can get back for check-ups, it can be worth it. If the saving is small, a clinic you can reach easily is usually worth more. For surgery abroad, see India or Turkey.

Which city is cheapest for a hair transplant in India?
We do not rank cities. Our lowest estimate is the one for tier-2 and smaller cities, ₹25 to ₹55 per graft for FUE, and it covers many cities. Individual clinics can charge more or less than any estimate.
Why is a hair transplant more expensive in Mumbai?
Our Mumbai estimate is higher because the Mumbai prices we found sit above the band for other metros. Clinics within Mumbai still differ, so compare quotes.
