How we estimate costs

Last updated 26 September 2026

The prices on this site are estimates of what hair transplants generally cost in India. They are not quotes, and they are not the price of any particular clinic. Only a clinic can give you a price, usually after a doctor has examined you. Our estimates are not medical advice, and the number of grafts you need can only be decided at a consultation.

This page explains where the numbers come from, how we calculate them and where they are weak. The current estimates were last updated on 25 September 2026.

Where the numbers come from

We build each estimate from public price information. We use four kinds of source: - Prices clinics publish on their own websites. This is our largest source. We collected price statements from 66 clinic websites across India, covering both per-graft prices and package prices. Many of these are "starting from" figures, and many do not say what they include. - Cost guides written by clinics. Several clinics publish guides with price ranges for different methods and cities. - Price ranges from Indian health-booking platforms. These tend to be lower than the figures in clinic guides. - Official documents. We use these for tax, not prices. We also use an international survey of hair restoration surgeons for context on session sizes. It contains no prices.

Much of this evidence comes from clinics describing their own prices. It is marketing information, and we have not checked it against what patients actually paid. That is why we show ranges, not single figures.

How we turn prices into a range

  1. We clean the data. We remove prices for other countries, duplicates of the same statement, and figures that were misread from the page.
  2. We group prices by method (FUE, FUT, DHI, sapphire FUE and so on) and by how they are charged (per graft or per package). Where a package states its graft count, we work out the price per graft.
  3. We look at where most figures fall. We do not base the range on the cheapest promotional offers or on the most expensive premium positioning.
  4. We set two ranges for each method. The typical range is where most published prices cluster, and it is our headline figure. The wider range shows what the wider market charges, including clinics outside the typical range.

For standard FUE, we deliberately set the typical range a little above the booking platforms' figures, so the headline is not unrealistically low. Some clinics and platforms do advertise lower prices.

Where evidence is thin, as it is for beard, eyebrow and body-hair transplants, we show wider ranges and label the evidence as thin.

Our national estimates per graft

MethodTypical rangeWider market range
FUE₹30 to ₹60 per graft₹20 to ₹100 per graft
FUT (strip)₹20 to ₹40 per graft₹15 to ₹60 per graft
DHI (implanter)₹50 to ₹100 per graft₹40 to ₹150 per graft
Sapphire FUE₹40 to ₹80 per graft₹30 to ₹120 per graft
Beard₹35 to ₹70 per graft₹30 to ₹120 per graft
Body hair₹50 to ₹100 per graft₹40 to ₹150 per graft

PRP, which is often added to a transplant, is estimated at ₹4,000 to ₹9,000 per session. Eyebrow transplants are shown as a total, ₹30,000 to ₹70,000, because minimum fees matter more than graft count.

How we calculate totals

A total is the per-graft range multiplied by the number of grafts. Then we apply a size adjustment, because the published packages show that large sessions usually cost less per graft: - up to 2,500 grafts: no adjustment - 3,000 to 3,500 grafts: 85% of the per-graft rate - 4,000 to 5,000 grafts: 70% of the per-graft rate

This adjustment is our judgement, fitted to the package prices we found. Most of that evidence is for FUE or does not name a method, so applying it to other methods is an assumption. Sessions of 4,000 grafts or more are often split over two days, sold as packages or priced case by case.

GraftsEstimated FUE total in India
1,000 to 1,500₹30,000 to ₹90,000
2,000 to 2,500₹60,000 to ₹1.5 lakh
3,000 to 3,500₹75,000 to ₹1.8 lakh
4,000 to 5,000₹85,000 to ₹2.1 lakh

Beard and body-hair transplants use their own graft bands with no size adjustment. Small beard jobs have a minimum total, because clinics charge minimum fees.

Rounding

We round per-graft figures to the nearest 5 rupees. We then calculate totals from those rounded figures and round them to the nearest 5,000 rupees. This keeps the per-graft figures and the totals consistent with each other.

How city figures are adjusted

Prices differ between cities, but the evidence supports only a broad pattern: clinics in large metro cities generally charge more than clinics elsewhere, and Mumbai clinics charge more again. Published gaps between metro and smaller-city prices range from none at all to about 70%, so we use a modest adjustment:

City groupAdjustment to the national range
Metro cities10% higher
Mumbai40% higher (replaces the metro adjustment)
Tier-2 cities10% lower
Smaller cities10% lower, the same as tier-2 for now

How we group cities. As a transparent starting point, we use the government's city classes for house rent allowance under the 7th Central Pay Commission. The top class counts as metro and the next class as tier-2. This is only a sorting rule; it is not evidence about hair transplant prices. We then make these changes: - Kolkata and Ahmedabad are in the top class, but we group them with tier-2 cities, because the prices we found there are closer to tier-2 levels. Confidence in this is low to moderate. - Pune stays in the metro group, but it is a borderline case. - Cities next to Delhi and Mumbai, such as Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Thane and Navi Mumbai, count as metro, because they share one clinic market with the main city. - Smaller cities have no separate evidence yet, so they use the tier-2 adjustment until we have better data.

Why Mumbai has its own adjustment. Sources that give Mumbai prices put even their low end at or above the top of the general metro range. The price statements we collected from Mumbai clinics agree. Our Mumbai figure is still below most of those Mumbai sources. That is deliberate, because a few Mumbai clinics and market-wide statements quote lower prices. The Mumbai adjustment does not apply to Thane or Navi Mumbai, because we found no separate prices for them. Confidence is moderate.

Every city page shows its own adjusted figures.

What the estimates include and exclude

Our estimates are meant to cover the procedure itself: the surgical session, local anaesthetic and the usual consumables. They do not add: - GST - consultation fees, where charged - blood tests before surgery - medicines and care products after surgery - follow-up visits, where not included - PRP or similar sessions - revision or top-up procedures - travel and accommodation

Clinics differ in what they include. Some published prices already include tax, and some packages include PRP, medicines or tests. Because our sources are mixed in this way, ask any clinic exactly what its quote includes.

GST

Our estimates exclude GST. GST is generally charged on cosmetic hair transplants in India; treatment to restore appearance after an injury, burns or a congenital condition may be exempt. Ask the clinic whether its quote includes GST and at what rate. We do not state a rate, because rules have changed recently and clinics currently apply different rates.

How we update the estimates

Every price on this site comes from one data file. When we change it, every page updates together, and our cost pages show the date of the current estimates. We keep earlier versions of the figures for our own records.

We plan to refine the estimates as we collect more prices stated by clinics themselves, including prices clinics confirm to us. We will update this page whenever the method changes. If you think a figure is wrong, our contact page shows how to tell us.

Limits you should know about

  • Thin evidence for some procedures. Beard, eyebrow and body-hair prices rest on few sources, almost all written by clinics.
  • City adjustments are a judgement. The direction is supported by the evidence; the exact size is not.
  • Clinic prices are unverified. Published prices are marketing statements. Many are "starting from" figures, and we cannot confirm what patients actually paid.
  • "DHI" and "sapphire" are used loosely. Some prices under these names may describe different techniques.
  • Not covered yet: robotic FUE, unshaven FUE, prices specific to women, repair procedures, newer add-on treatments, and payment in instalments.
