Hair transplants in Mumbai

Mumbai is the one city where we raise our estimates above the usual metro level. The published prices we collected for Mumbai start higher than in other large cities, so our figures for Mumbai carry their own adjustment. For standard FUE we estimate ₹40 to ₹85 per graft, against ₹30 to ₹60 per graft for India as a whole.

That does not mean every Mumbai clinic is expensive. Quotes across the city still vary a lot, and the spread depends on the doctor's role, the method and what the package covers. Use the figures on this page to test a quote, not to predict one.

We list 20 clinics in Mumbai across 10 areas. Most sit in the western suburbs, from Bandra through Santacruz, Vile Parle and Juhu to Andheri and Malad. Others are in Powai, Ghatkopar and Girgaon. If you live in Navi Mumbai or around Panvel, compare the Navi Mumbai and Panvel pages before you travel in.

What drives the price in Mumbai

Our Mumbai figures sit higher for one reason: the Mumbai prices we collected, from clinic websites and cost platforms, start above the usual metro range. Within the city, three things move a quote. Sapphire FUE and DHI are priced above standard FUE, and several Mumbai clinics on our list offer sapphire FUE. Steps done by the doctor personally generally cost more than technician-led work. PRP, medicines and follow-ups can also be folded into a package.

Ask for the plain FUE rate as well as any package. For 2,000 to 2,500 grafts, our FUE estimate here is ₹80,000 to ₹2.15 lakh, and DHI is ₹1.4 to ₹3.5 lakh. Both exclude GST. How we estimate costs explains the Mumbai adjustment.

Questions about cost in Mumbai

What is the total cost of a hair transplant in Mumbai?

It depends mostly on how many grafts you need. For FUE we estimate ₹40,000 to ₹1.3 lakh for 1,000 to 1,500 grafts and ₹1 to ₹2.55 lakh for 3,000 to 3,500 grafts, before GST.

A real total also depends on what is bundled. Check whether blood tests, medicines, PRP sessions and follow-up visits are in the figure you are given.

Is there a hair transplant price list for Mumbai?

No single price list exists. Each clinic sets its own rates, and many only quote after a consultation. Our per-graft estimates for Mumbai are the nearest thing to a benchmark: ₹40 to ₹85 per graft for FUE and ₹70 to ₹140 per graft for DHI.

If a clinic gives you a written rate card, compare the per-graft figure with ours and ask what is included.

Is FUE cheaper than DHI in Mumbai?

Usually, yes. DHI uses an implanter pen and more team time, so clinics price it higher per graft. Our Mumbai estimates are ₹40 to ₹85 per graft for FUE and ₹70 to ₹140 per graft for DHI.

Some quotes labelled DHI are FUE with implanter placement for part of the session. Ask exactly which steps use the implanter. Our DHI guide explains the difference.

Does a hair transplant cost less in Navi Mumbai or Panvel than in Mumbai?

Our estimates for Navi Mumbai and Panvel are lower than for Mumbai. The Mumbai adjustment applies to Mumbai only, because we found no separate evidence on prices in the satellite cities. Individual clinics may price differently from our estimates in either direction.

See Navi Mumbai and Panvel for their estimates, and the Navi Mumbai and Panvel clinic lists.

Is the cost different for men and women in Mumbai?

We do not publish separate estimates for women, because we did not find enough women-specific prices. Women often need a diagnosis and blood tests first, and some need unshaven techniques, which can cost more. Our female hair transplant guide covers this.

Is the monsoon a bad time for a hair transplant in Mumbai?

Mumbai gets most of its yearly rain between June and September. There is no rule against surgery then, but the first two weeks of healing need a clean, dry scalp and no pressure on the grafts. Ask your clinic how to travel home in heavy rain, and whether a loose cover or umbrella is enough. The recovery guide sets out the first weeks.

How we estimate these costs

Figures are estimates built from prices clinics publish on their own websites, market price statements and published cost guides, adjusted for Mumbai (our own estimate for Mumbai). They are not quotes and not the price of any clinic listed on this site. Read how we estimate costs.
