Eyebrow transplant cost in India

An eyebrow transplant moves single hairs, usually from the back of the scalp, into thin or missing brows. We estimate both eyebrows at ₹30,000 to ₹70,000 in India, before GST. Few clinics publish eyebrow prices, so treat this as a rough guide.

Eyebrow work uses single-hair grafts placed one by one at a very flat angle. Our per-graft estimate for it is higher than for scalp FUE, which we estimate at ₹30 to ₹60 per graft. Many clinics quote one price for the whole procedure. Ask what it includes: the consultation, medicines, follow-ups and a touch-up if needed.
How many grafts
A 2017 paper by Indian surgeons in the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery says about 200 single-hair grafts are needed on each side on average, so about 400 for both brows. Your number depends on how much brow is missing and the shape you want.
Who it may suit
The usual reasons, from the same paper and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS):
- brows that are naturally sparse or missing
- over-plucking that has stopped the hair growing back
- hair pulling (trichotillomania)
- a scar from an injury, a burn or the removal of a tumour
- alopecia areata that has been stable
If a medical condition caused the loss, you need a diagnosis first. The ISHRS notes that disease and treatments such as chemotherapy can cause eyebrow loss.
What to expect after
- First days: the ISHRS says problems are usually limited to mild pain and swelling.
- Early on: almost all the transplanted hairs fall out. This is expected.
- Months 3 to 4: new hairs start to grow.
- Over the next 4 to 6 months: the brows fill in.
The 2017 paper advises no touch-up before 9 months.
The upkeep
Transplanted hair keeps the character of the place it came from. Hair from the scalp grows longer than brow hair, so the 2017 paper says most people need to trim it regularly. The ISHRS adds that the hairs may need gel or wax to lie flat.
